Builders & Architects: Working with MOTIV Interiors — The Collaborative Experience

At MOTIV Interiors, our goal is to make the design process easy, transparent, and fun! Let us show you how we collaborate with builders and architects to enhance the client experience.

Goals for an Exceptional Experience

We love supporting our clients in achieving their design dreams. We aim to achieve three primary goals in this process:

  1. Provide homeowners with an up-front investment estimate for design and furnishing

  2. Guide clients through the design and selection process

  3. Increase the attractiveness and value of the completed home

How Our Process Works

Step 1: Connection Call

We begin our process with a 30 minute connection call to learn about the project and the client's vision. The connection call allows us to determine if we are a good fit for your project — based on timeline, project needs, and general expectations. During this call, we outline how our process works and determine which of our services is the best fit. We also offer the client insight as to how we collaborate with our industry partners to create the space of their dreams.

Step 2: Initial Consultation

Once we've determined that the client/designer match is a "heck yes!" — we move on to the next step, the initial consultation.

During the initial consultation, we start collaborating right away.

This step is where we establish the project's timeline, design goals, and estimate the client's expected investment. This includes:

  1. 2 hour initial consultation on site to understand the client's vision

  2. Interior design services agreement (sent within 2 business days) that includes:

    • Complete scope of work

    • Estimated project timeline

    • Flat rate design fee for entire project

    • Furnishings investment estimate (by room)

Step 3: Full Service Design

This step is our favorite! After establishing our goals and planning the project, we begin full service design. During this step, clients can expect complete project support that leads to the turnkey big reveal.

During this step, we support the client and build team by facilitating the following:

  1. Onboarding — This is where we gather information and set expectations so the clients can relax and enjoy the design process. This also helps the build team define the general direction of the project.

  2. Conceptual Design — We confirm floor plans, design direction, and investment. We select key pieces and obtain trade estimates, empowering the clients to understand what to expect visually and functionally.

  3. Detailed Design — We then turn ideas into construction drawings that illustrate what the final project will look like. We provide room-by-room proposals with hand renderings and walk clients through each selection in detail.

  4. Purchasing — During this phase, we manage complete or partial furnishing needs by sourcing furnishings and managing delivery and installation. Tap into our trade network as we manage all the details and any issues that may arise during this key phase of the project.

We love working with builders and architects to support our clients in getting the best results possible. When the designer and builder teams are on the same page, projects run more smoothly, are completed on time, and often exceed everyone's expectations in terms of final results.

Want to find out if our design process aligns with your client's vision? We're now booking projects for 2025 and would love to hear from you!
