Hand Renderings — Creating a Living Piece of Art

When MOTIV Interiors designs a space, we aim to design a piece of artwork. Hand renderings are the first step in creating a living, breathing space customized to fit your aesthetic and lifestyle.

Why Hand Drawings?

Our principle designer, Anna McGary, earned a Bachelor in Fine Arts from Watkins College of Art here in Nashville, with a concentration in sustainability.

In addition to specialized knowledge of products and materials, elements and principles of design, and project management skills, earning a four year degree makes a designer quite proficient in being a visual communicator.

We're using that skill on your behalf to make sure that we meet and exceed your design goals while guiding your project to completion.

Concept Phase — Hand Sketches of Your Space

We incorporate hand sketches at the beginning of your project during the concept phase. At this point in the design process, it's essential that we get clarity on your vision and the aesthetic direction you desire.

One way we do this is by taking photographs of the job site and sketching directly over them so that you can visualize where we're heading — especially in regard to scale and proportion.

Detailed Design Phase — Refining Your Renderings

Later, during the detailed design phase, we refine those quick initial sketches and produce beautiful hand renderings that convey a more detailed vision of your upcoming transformation.

Our clients love these hand renderings because they offer an artistic way for you to see the overall dream for your space while maintaining an air of mystery and excitement around your final result.

We present these renderings alongside material samples and photographs of proposed products so that you can deeply understand how your new space will feel and function.

Construction Phase — Collaborating with Your Build Team

Oftentimes during the construction process, changes need to be made quickly. Working with an interior designer that can convey those ideas accurately on the fly can be the difference between success and failure.

Being able to visually communicate ideas on the job site keeps your project moving forward without delays that can increase the overall cost of your project and lengthen your construction timeline.

Art & Luxury

Though we do offer computer renderings as an optional service, we find that hand drawings connect us with our ultimate goal of designing a space as a living piece of art. They convey the artistry in our design, giving you an idea of how your space will transform into a functional, healthy, and sensual art piece of its own.

Clients often cherish our hand renderings as one-of-a-kind keepsakes to remind them of their unique design journey. Like a well tailored suit or luxury handbag, your home is customized just for you and serves as a timeless expression of your unique journey.
