Hosting for the Holidays - Our Guide to Preparing for Guests

Hosting for the holidays can seem like a daunting task, but with mindful preparation, both you and your guests can enjoy a stress-free holiday season focused on making memories together.

With the holiday season fast approaching, we've put together a guide on how to best prepare for hosting guests in your home.

Focus on Comfort

Providing your guests with a comfortable living space is one of the most important elements of hosting.

Make sure to provide guests with an ample supply of clean and fresh bed and bath linens. A well-rested and comfortable guest is a happy guest!

Practical Access

While comfort is of the utmost importance, practicality and functionality should also be prioritized. Make sure to provide your guests with well lit and easy access to a restroom and the kitchen.

Providing drinking water is a thoughtful way to increase the functionality of a space. We suggest using a beautiful carafe to provide elevated easy access to water in sleeping spaces.

Because most overnight guests will have traveled to visit, provide easy solutions for clothing and luggage storage. Clothing storage should include a place to hang clothing pieces.

Below we incorporated a bench for guests to use while preparing themselves for the day. Storage bins underneath are a great way to hide extra accessories and keep the space clutter free.

Include Special and Unique Touches

Comfort and practicality are important when preparing for guests. Once these factors have been achieved, focus on incorporating special touches to ensure your guests a unique and memorable stay.

One great way to add life and beauty to a space is the inclusion of plants and greenery. Natural elements are wonderful for creating a sustainable and inviting living space.

When choosing greenery for your spaces, remember to consider balance. This helps to create a harmonious and relaxing environment.

Curated artwork is another way to make a space more engaging. We love sourcing from local artists to add an extra layer of uniqueness to your space.

Not only does regional artwork and craft provide your guests with an interesting narrative and engagement, it provides you, the host, an opportunity to interact with and support local culture.

In a recent project, we sourced these prints below at CHAUVET Arts in historic downtown Nashville. Click here to check out CHAUVET Arts' selection of local Nashville prints - with customization available.

Wall art is a great place to start with visual engagement. We also highly recommend providing your guests with more tactile engagement opportunities in their sleeping space.

Consider providing a few coffee table books about local attractions and/or history. This is an interactive way to welcome your guests to both your home and community.

Ready for support in curating a space all your own? We'd love to hear from you!
