Light Control — An Essential for a Healthy & Happy Home

At MOTIV Interiors, we are always focused on including natural and sustainable elements in design. The importance and benefits of natural light are often overlooked and underestimated.

Natural light does wonders for your mental and physical health while promoting learning and growth. Natural light solutions bring life and warmth into spaces and connect us to our primal roots.

Design choices dictate how much light is introduced into your space and its quality and impact within the environment.

Working with an interior designer is a great way to ensure a layered lighting plan that incorporates both beauty and functionality into your lighting scheme.

Each living space is unique and oriented differently to the sun, which is why we highly recommend using custom window treatments designed with your specific needs in mind.

Which window treatments are best for each space is determined by several factors, including privacy needs and best material suited for the space.

Custom window treatments can be a significant investment but they are essential — not only to frame your view to the outside world but to regulate light flow in your living environment.

Below we designed custom window treatments to completely transform this primary bedroom. We used Roman shades, a great alternative to traditional blinds, which can darken a room significantly.

Roman shades can be adjusted from both the top and bottom, allowing you to let just the right amount of light into your space while maintaining your privacy.

Notice how subtle the shades are within the space, yet they are the key control of natural light and privacy. The drapery panels frame the view and make the space feel more expansive.
